I've got a tiny one on the regulator, it's slightly better than nothing, at least it tells me Whether I have any pressure at all but it's not accurate. It's liquid filled and changes with the temp. I can put an ice cube on The gauge and watch the pressure reading change lol.
I've seen complaints about the isolator style, has that been ironed out? Are there any tricks to them?
Straight mechanical, non liquid filled is tempting and simple. Not sure I want to mount it to the cowl, though. (I've got an over abundance of boy racer stuff on my Car already)
How about electric? Can I get something like an auto meter electric And expect it to be fairly close?
What have you had good luck with?

I like my Autometer electric.. if you want to test it for accuracy you can T in a known mech gauge along with the electric one.. I also liked my isolated gauge.. I tested it also and it was on. just make sure ALL of the air is out if the secondary side(air compresses and will give you a bogus reading EDIT Also dont use a liquid filled gauge.. specially under the hood.. as the filled gauge gets heated up it screws up the reading.. use a gauge thats open to the atmosphere and had a filter so it can breathe

I have the autometer isolator setup for my coronet and it always worked fine. I have the Mallory blue puck isolator for the EFI in the Fury and I've never got it to work reliably. Don't know if I just can't get the air out of the line or what. The puck does sit a little higher than the gauge since it hangs off the back of the dr's side fuel rail.

I would go electric, check out Speedhut gauges, lots of options. I have not used any of their stuff but I have never heard anything bad about them. I went overboard with autometer stuff 18 years ago with my car, when I decide to rip all that out I will trim it down to the basics with some speedhut guages.

I have a mechanical Autometer mounted inside the cowl scoop on my car...can't see it unless you're sitting in the driver's seat. Never been a fan of electric gauges or using the isolator. Liquid filled gauges are crap...I found that out a long time ago w/ the first one I bought.

Fuel pressure is actually part of more modern tunes these days keeping it low like 5lbs. then running a bigger .120+ needle n seat to keep aeration under control so accuracy is HIGHLY important imo.............I run the Magnafuel reg fwiw..............

One thing that I do like about electric gauges is that you can run multiple senders and just one gauge.. I am reading 2 temps with one gauge unit.. saves space that way.. if I wanted to read more temps I would just have to put in a different switch

Thumper you crack me up with your EFI hate . Seriously, I don't hate EFI I hate the "Just go to EFI" because you can't make a carb work or are too cheap to have a GOOD one built that WILL perform as good or better than EFI...........As we all know I'm NOT a fan of the new generation cars no matter what brand but so what, that's what makes this crazy world go around and I'm not dogging on new stuff cos let's face it, the new stuff flys................I love "lope" and overlap combined w/the smell of gasoline.............

Dom keep preachin. I tried it for years on here about fuel pressure and few pay attention. Low pressure big needle and seat and good fuel system go a long a way to making things work. We can change AFR with fuel pressure and float level. But don't expect to get a warm welcome here on that....

I'm almost always paying attention. Except for when I ain't here. That's why I want a gauge that actually works.

IMO stay away from Isoltors, they are slow to respond to changes and not particularly accurate. I have used the Autometer electric gauge with some success if you have to have it in the car. Otherwise a good Autometer mechanical gauge is hard to beat mounted on the cowl would be my preference.

I thought you used a data logger for fuel pressure.. if so thats a electric unit(transducer)

I also have the autometer electric, too cheap to buy another gauge, so when I went EFI I just picked up a new sender. When my low pressure gauge reads 9psi it's really 60psi...haha
I second (third?) low pressure for holleys, but that wasn't really the question...
As for EFI hate...I really enjoyed tinkering with the carb, and had it fairly dialed in. I saw no benefit with the EFI in terms of MPG or ET, but I can do the same tuning while driving down the road without smelling like fuel..
