About a month ago I posted regarding feed back on people who had dealings with RBRE. I had sent my Stage V std port heads in for porting and was told 30 day turn around. Started calling at about the 45 day mark and Ray would answer and say I’ll check and call you back. Never got calls back. My heads arrived back to me right at the 60 day mark.
I had flowed the heads on a local flow bench to have before and after numbers. When the heads returned, I took them back to the local guy to see what improvement. (I like data) From 300 to 700 lift the heads picked up anywhere from 50 to 63 CFM. Maxing out at 441 CFM at .700 lift on a 2.25 intake valve. Local flow bench and Ray’s flow bench never differed more than 8 CFM at any measured point.
While I have not had time to make it back to the chassis dyno I did make 3 decent passes last Friday at Palm Beach. Weather was good, but not great! On the 3rd pass off the trans brake at 4000 RPM, I equaled my previous best of 1.31 in the 60 ft. What happen down track has put a smile on my face that has not left yet
Here is my previous personal best. 60ft 1.314 1/8 5.994 @113.41 ¼ 9.496 @138.53
New personal best. 60ft 1.311 1/8 5.858 @116.84 ¼ 9.241 @143.92
I’m convince if I could have gotten a 4th pass in, launching at 4500 to 5000, it would have run a low teen or quicker.
As it stands now, I’m up about 5.5 mph and .25 of a second in ET.
Am I happy with the results of Ray’s service? HELL YEAH! I’ve spent a lot more money to go slower. In the future, I will allow more time for the added delays. I myself am in the service business. I always pad my estimates so when I deliver under time, I look like a hero. If I can’t meet the customer’s time frame, then it allows us both to seek other options to meet time frames.
Ray’s reputation is well deserved/earned and he delivers results!

I have his single plane dominator intake and now his port work. Extremely pleased with parts and quality of work. My only concern was being in the dark for a few weeks on when I could plan time off from work to reassemble motor and meet other schedules that I had.

Good to hear. Out of curiosity, was the final price what you'd been quoted in advance of the work being done?

Those heads took longer than expected because they are not done in house. though great results.

Good to hear he still treats people right!

My -1 heads were ported at Barton's many years ago... 2000-ish? He cleaned up somebodies mess. I was happy with the results. He even offered to take me out for lunch when I picked them up! He did alright for me, stand up guy!

Lunch is always fun during dyno day at RBRE. Never know who might join us, a super stock owner with many wally's.
Last time we had a little trouble lining up the collectors with the headers that work in my car. So I bought lunch! Ray Dave and crew went the extra mile to make it work!
