Don't know if anyone is aware of this. Just found out CSR will only recert these shields one time. Mine is due and I wasn't expecting to have to lay out $450 instead of $100 or so. Still a good product once you get it to fit right.

Hmmm... didn't know that was only a one-time deal, since my re-certified shield has expired (again) while my junk's been down for "ever". Bummer.

The few times I've ever been to a race where they actually did a thorough tech inspection, I've never had anyone actually look for the date on the SFI tag. They looked to see if it had an SFI balancer on the motor and that was it. No looking under the car except for checking to see if there was a driveshaft loop present.

I got them to re-certify mine a second time, but it was like pulling teeth to get them to do it.

Spoke with a few guys in my racing club and that seems to be the consensus that the tech guys don't even look. Sounds like a plan.

I just send them two 904 shields. They would not cert one because "it was too old". It never had been recertified and I think it was made in 2002. It was also missing some hardware that the newer ones come with, but they used to offer to sell that, not this time.

So I guess if you have any doubts call before sending them one.
