have a 2008 dodge ram noticed a small leak on top of the waterpump right at the mounting point,is there a easy fix i have heard guys using something in the colant and it will seal it back up,its such a small leak really dont want to have to change the pump for it.i think coolant is getting past a small part of the gasket.

I suggest you go ahead and replace just the water pump seal if that's all that's leaking...no pump required. Those "stop leaks" will plug all holes.... including ones in your radiator and heater core.

I've succesfully repaired small coolant leaks at timing cover/ water pump gaskets with generic stop leak. Both small block and 3.3 V6. The small block had a stream suirting out. The 3.3 hasn't leaked in a year since.

Most any kind of stop leak will work just fine forever in your case. I have used Barrs many times and have used K seal one time on cracked head. The K seal is used very different than the Barrs leak, both will work just fine without plugging up your radiator.

I feel the K seal is for serious cracks/leaks and you would be better off using the Barrs leak for your situation.

One time when I was about 16-17 years old I had a 67-68 100 dollar Biscayne chevy with a 283 in it with a leaking radiator. One can of Barrs leak fixed it for about a month. Then another can fixed it for another month. Then the third can plugged up the radiator solid and the motor overheated and then the car went to the junkyard when that happened.

Many cooling parts I get for my big diesel work trucks comes with Barrs Leaks pills to put in the cooling system after the part replacement from the factory, so it can not be all that bad to use.

Most auto manufacturers use some form of stop leak (usually pellets) right from the factory.

Someday I'll have another C-body.

Bars leak works good, just don't dump the whole bottle in! Maybe 1/4 is all you need.

Agreed. I did the pepper trick once with the rad in my 65 dart, I stopped at the Quik Shop & bought a tin of it & poured it in right by the front door as I was parked close to the entrance (sure got some strange looks!) & topped it off & drove home & when I got there (several miles) it had stopped & stayed that way for a year till another leak started in another location at which point I broke down & got a 189 eBay Champion. Last year I tried it again on my Ramcharger but made the mistake of getting coarse ground pepper (figured it would seal better!) & the next day the granuals were swollen & blockeing the tubes & it immediately overheated. there was a good post some odd months back on one of the products listed above (I forget which one) & it was for a block or head gasket issue iirc & he varied the procedure upon using it (which is what made it somewhat stick in my mind) & said it took care of the problem. was not a rad leak tho. It would make sense that the stopleak is gonna coat surfaces in there, reducing heat transfer to some extent I would think.

Use the Bars Leak Gold which is the brown powder in the tube. This won't clog the radiator or heater core. Don't use the Bars leak that is the brown syrup with the chunks in it.

I have used K seal on a small intake water leak and also on another engine that had a freeze plug seeping. It sealed both...it seems to be good stuff.
