Had my buddy use his 3D printer and make me a set of these. They are rough finished right now. Just wanted to know if anybody else would like a set....

I might be interested if you have a set for an A body. I just put my name on a waiting list to get a roll bar put in my Duster and the first thing they asked was whether I planned on keeping the arm rests or not.

Any idea on pricing/delivery time?

I'm guessing it would be car specific. Not all cages are welded the same. It would involve a small template...I used cardboard. They take about 12-16 hours to print out. So I'd guess a 10-14 day turn around.

Makes sense, thanks. I will keep it in mind when the car goes in.

I may want a set. Your PM mailbox is full. How much are they costing?

3D printing. That's a serious waste of resources. I could crank a pair of those out of a chunk of HDPE with a table saw and router in about an hour.

Never had the need but what's your point ?? You think 12-16 hours is a reasonable time and 3D printing a good method to make those things ?!?!

"hollow" didn't occur to me but I guess with a 3D printer that's a definite possibility.

Not a waste of resources - just a slow 3D printer! 3D printing is here and is the future of manufacturing - ever see the 3D powder metal printers?

no idea, less than a real set would cost. They are hollow(ish) it is not a solid piece of plastic. This is NOT the worlds fasted or expensive 3D printer. They weigh mush less than the factory units...

The materials are dirt cheap, and they have the exact backing as the factory units...meaning the "nubs" embossed for the factory screws. Doubt you could make that as accurate in less than an hour.

3D printing will NEVER be fast enough to be a "manufacturing" process. Rapid prototyping but never "manufacturing".

Well it sure as hell wouldn't take me 12-16 hours !!!

A+ on the effort but the big problem id have here is the modern crap in my old ride that just dont look right.

And the time involved... please.

I thought an hour on each side of my bracket car was too much time on the project, but I guess not.

Cut and stitch must be a lost art these days.

I think I could do a nicer product in much less time the old school way since our cars are "old school".

back of them... Nice job EV2 but a shop would charge a bunch of money for that. Again this is a S L O W printer. This is NOT a money making endeavor, just wanted to see if anybody would like a set. The program runs at night while we all sleep....

Yuck, is that the same 'like" material used in the holley floats?

Maybe you could produce some sort of "Texture" pattern on the outside so they would look a bit more time period correct.

Can that material be painted.

I think its a great concept if it can be tweaked a bit.
