I'm pretty sure I already know this one but... I'm assuming there is a "hard" tag on the dash and maybe a spec sticker with it on the door or door frame? We're going to look a truck this weekend and I want to be ready. Is it stamped on the cowl and frame too? Thanks for any expertise you guys might have in this area.

Pretty sure metal vin tag on the DS door, sticker on the door jam and lastly vin marked on the frame but I am unsure of if it is DS or PS.

I think there are no other hidden vins on trucks through the late 70's

When I had a Vin inspection done on my 77 Ramcharger when I bought it the metal vin tag is on the drivers door as stated earlier and another vin number is stamped on the outside of the frame directly below the passenger door, the other ones I am unsure of.

A door seems like an odd place for a vin tag.
They can easily be swapped and were.
My 76 has a sticker in the drivers side door jamb.
I see no metal tag.
Must have been lost with the doors.
Guess I'll have to look over the frame once it gets dry out there.

My metal tag is riveted on the drivers door, a flat spot just a few inches below the door latch mechanism. I don't think that was very well thought out having the metal vin plate on the door instead of the dash frame since it's very common to swap doors if it been wrecked but the dashes don't get swapped very often. Here in Las Vegas the DMV is a very difficult place to deal with, with their Vin inspection before you liceanse your vehicle, I couldn't imagine if my drivers door on my Ramcharger had been swapped and had a different vin tag and maybe the frame had been changed at one time and plus my sticker on the door jam is barely even readable after 40 years, I am sure I would have been kicked out door and then probably would have had to jump through hoops to get it legal here.
