I am seeking advice/images in regards to building headrest mounts on my roll cage seat cross member bar.

The car is a 1968 Dodge Dart (2 door/hard top) that has the super stock seats and a 10 point roll cage.

I purchased a set of used headrest's that are from a 1980's Jeep Cherokee that I want to use. The styling of these headrest's match the design of the seats (square shape and the edge piping). Attached is an image of the headrests.

Are there any rules or regulations in regards to mounting headrest's to the seat cross member bar?

How would you approach this design? Weld piping to the seat cross member bar and slide the headrests support bars inside of them? Cut off the headrest support bars and weld a plate underneath the headrest and attach to a roll cage size pipe?

Thanks!

Mine has a 3/4" tube welded to the main hoop. There is a 2nd 3/4" tube welded at 90 degrees at the bottom. The head rest is a flt 1/8" plate welded to a tube that slides into the 2nd tube. There are holes in both so a quick pin can adjust it. The plate is padded and covered with the same material as the seat.

I just drilled the cross bar for a insert that I drilled out to the size of the head rest posts and welded them in. I used the same tubing to set the height and a couple set collars on the bottom to lock it down.so far never had any issue with tech ( Nhra).if you need I can take a pic.

You may be able to use adapters from fence pipe couplers or get some ideas from them.
