Hey all,

I bought a hood latch at a swap meet last month, and the release mechanism from a guy on dodgecharger.com last week. Went to assemble it today, and no-go.

I'm pretty sure the release is correct, but I think I bought the wrong latch mechanism. Unless there is some kind of rod or other piece that I am missing. The latch bolts up fine, and the release bolts up fine, but there's no way the release reaches the latch to "un-hook" it.

Could someone please post a pic of what this whole set-up is supposed to look like? I'd really appreciate it.

Just to be clear: I'm referring to the parts that mount to the top of the grill surround that are the main latch. Not the pull-to-open thing after the main latch is released.

the release arm sticks out about 1/2" past the straight metal....it meets a small arm on the latch, sounds like you may be missing the arm on the latch....it's part of the latch.

69 should be the same.

That looks nothing like the setup on my 68

68 and 69 are a little different since they changed the grille and moved the hood release away from the center. If nobody else responds tonight I'll try to remember to snap a pic of mine in the morning.

From that pic it looks like I own the parts for a '69 setup, and also the release for a '68. I can even see the two off-set holes in the pic where the '68 release goes right in front of the latch.

So I think I still need to see what the '68 set-up looks like. Thanks again for everyone's help.
