Just read that Ray Barton won't turn a Hemi over 6000 with Hyd lifters. Something about beating the push rod ends up. What do you all think?

To much weight in those valvetrains for a juice lifter.

Mopar to the bone!!!

Ditto. I never use hydraulic lifters in a HEMI unless its strictly low RPM stock. Too much mass in the valve train.

I raced a 1970 Hemi 4 speed Cuda in NHRA stock, I shifted it at 7000 RPM with the anti pump up lifters that the original Racer Brown sold me, never had at issues with them confused
Is Ray Barton talking about hydraulic roller lifters maybe?

Mr.Cab Racing and winning with Mopars since 1964. (Old F--t, Huh)

I don't know, it just said Hyd lifters. It is in the latest issue of Mopar Muscle, where he built them a 528 with his super stock valve train.

Look at it like this: The Hemi has the longest pushrods and the largest rocker arms. The pushrods have to be quite beefy to withstand the sudden loads from valve opening. It probably uses a a pretty huge spring to control those behemoth valves. The piston in the hydraulic lifter has to withstand the accelerative forces of valve opening and closing. The more aggressive the cam lobe, the more the inertia loading that the hydraulic lifter sees. So is it going to leak down? pump up? oscillate?

The solid lifter has far less to go wrong and is probably lighter to boot.
