Hello, I have seen that the 270s are starting to show up in the real world. But have the intake and valley pan been released yet? Anyone have one? Thanks in advance

Valley plate isn't released yet but should happen within a few weeks. No idea on intake manifolds. Haven't heard a peep on them. Not even sure they are going to make MW intakes although it does seem like a logical thing for TF to do now that they have the MW heads.

I was waiting for the valve covers to show up but it has been over a year and nothing so they either got cancelled or moved to the end of the priority list.

My new 270 heads have shipped so I'll have them in a few days. Once I get them I'll post some pictures.

I've asked Trick Flow about the valley plate but haven't heard back yet. As for the valve covers, they are listed on Summit's website but they have a ship date of 4/3/17. They have 3 types: bare, black and silver.

I hope so. I also hope they put EFI bungs in the new intakes and that they have a 4500 version with a well designed plenum.

I'm going to be forced to run an Indy intake on my 470 with the new 270 heads and I'm not really a fan of the Indy 4500 intake. Edelbrock doesn't make a low deck Super Victor or else I'd use one of those.

I talked with Trick Flow today about a 512 build we are doing.
They stated the intake for the 240 heads will be what they offer for the 270.
They indicated they left plenty of room to port match the existing intake to the new heads.
I haven't seen either in person so, have no usable info.

I tempted to buy the 270 heads for this build ( pro Touring, street strip combo car- 72 Charger/ full suspension upgrade, tremec, 8 point etc) but unsure of actual flow help for this type build.

Supposed to speak with engineering in the morning for more details , their dyno results.
Having a hard time seeing same intake truly applicable.

Anyone know if the current intake flows well enough for the 270 heads with just a port match??

I hope they come out with dedicated MW intakes. Expecting a standard-port intake to be effective on a MW head w/ only a simple port match job is... ummmm... looking for the right word... stupid.

Maybe. I'd say that is plan C.

Andy since the Indy low deck intake seems to be the only option for the 270 head will you elaborate on why you are not a fan? Is it just the 4500 version or the 4150 also?

Just Curious, thanks,

Steve

Fwiw: Trick Flow confirmed they are just providing the existing intake .
Flows well on their dyno runs with a 505.
Valley plate in 3 weeks.

Larry Smith just tuned a set up. Pretty nice looking heads but yeah that manifold deal is ahhhhhhh Not really going to work. Nice intake for a standard port head....TOdd

I just think the plenum on the 4500 intakes from Indy looks weird. The 3X might be an exception since those usually look like they actually belong there. But in the past the 440-3 and the 400-3 had very awkward looking plenums where it was clear that the casting was for a 4150 carb. Edelbrock has some 4500 intakes where the plenum looks really nice. The Mopar Performance M1 4500 intake look great. My guess is it was just a tooling expense thing for Indy.

The fact is, regardless of how it looks, the Indy -3 manifolds are an easy 850hp piece in basically ootb form.

So can the current Trick flow intake be ported to match the 270 ports? Is there enough meat? Or is that a waste?

Not really. There isn't enough material around the runners to make them a full MW size. The runners would need extensive welding to open them up to a full MW size.

Has anyone got a 270 head to check out yet. Are the ports actually Max Wedge size, Being they are not running offset intake rockers. Based on my 240 heads, porting to max wedge height is no problem, but getting to max wedge width and a straight shot in without hitting the push rod channel is tough.

They won't really have much more available width(if any)at the pinch than your current heads, since they both use the same(std) rockers.

Well at least I won't loose any sleep thinking I should have waited for the 270 heads as there probably little difference over my modded 240 heads.
