O'reilly's priced me a kit(edelbrock # 1477) for $48.14 + tax. I had alot of parts in it but that seems a bit steep plus the floats would be extra if I wanted them too. any suggestions on a cheaper one or is that about right. Thank you for your time.

got it but their site wont let me search for it. I'm sure an eddie kit would be better quality but thats alot of money for a kit, it'll be over $50 w tax

Trouble is, you install a Carter/Edelbrock kit & it runs good for years, you install a Tomco kit & your lucky to get six months out of it...I went through that crap 20-30 years ago, a few bucks isb't worth it...

yeah I was thinking that too that a "genuine" eddie kit has got to be better quality than the others & most of the "others" I've used down thru the years the quality control could be alot better.

Aftermarket rebuilder grade Holley kits really show the difference, but I've had customers in the past bring me Tomco kits for Carter carbs & while you could tell they weren't of the quality of a genuine kit they were good enough to get the job out the door with a warning to the customer about part quality...Then three to six months later the customer is having issues..Do it again with the good kit..No more problems...

Can't have your cake and eat it too! Its one or the other. He's complaining about cost, so Tomco it is. The tendency on this forum is to over spend, rebuild, tear it down, do it over, on and on. You can own expensive classics and be frugal too.

I spend what I need to in order to do it right once & hopefully no need to visit it again...Made a living fixing cars for a long time so I know where not to cut corners...Unfortunately parts quality of late means sometimes things don't go as planned...

It was 38 and change from summit plus shipping for the one I just got. Good thing I needed a few other items to add in the box.
