I'll bet he signed a release allowing them to use the pix regardless.

The club ran a Chicago Style Shootout with three club members making the trip including Al Niespodzinski Jr. driving the “Caged Heat” 1933 Willys coupe owned by his father “Double A” Al Niespodzinski who ran a qualifying best of 5.06 ET at 137 MPH; Jr. Ward driving the “Junkyard Dog” 1934 Willys sedan owned and tuned by Jim Oddy who ran a qualifying best of 4.83 ET at 147 MPH; Derek Childress driving his 1933 Willys Coupe “Classical Gas” who ran a qualifying best of 5.19 ET at 134 MPH and special gust Justus Daniel who ran a best qualifying time of 5.33 ET at 131 MPH.
The final round came down to three time defending club champion Jr Ward and up and coming Al Niespodzinski Jr. Al Jr. continued his very consistent ways clicking off a 5.10 ET at 136 MPH but it wasn’t enough to hold off Ward’s 4.84 ET at 148 MPH to take the win.
Looks like they got sick of getting beat up on.

That is double speak for don't come back......Semantics are just that, the meaning is still the same.
People don't want to find ways to go faster and learn how to compete or even buy an engine from them, instead, lets ban them cause were a bunch of fat lazy keyboard hero's... when you have the field covered by over 2 tenths.... and over 10mph..... that's A LOT of "finding" ways to go faster...... perhaps the tech guys "found" out too.....

I was at a few of the races they were, everyone went thru the same inspections... Do you think the fans want to see fast cars or slower ones? Most races I saw them at, it was a huge challenge to get the cars down the track...Maybe spend a little more time on the chassis tune up....most cars were running 5.0 three years ago in that class. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=glJNOJ-Wr5k

I think fans want to see close races. NOT one car FAR ahead of everyone else. Your saying your going to find at least 10 mph from a chassis tune up? Most cars are still running 5.0s in that class...except for ONE.

Call it whatever you want, makes no difference. Most of these type classes, while competitive, are still supposed to be fun. My GUESS is that Jim Oddy is still the win at all costs racer that he has been in the past. Meaning any amount of hard work and money required, would be procured. Usually NOT popular in what boils down to an exhibition class for most of these guys. We had the same thing in the Fastest Street Car stuff. Guys spend a 100 thousand to win a damn jacket

Honestly, I thought it was an exhibition class. Some are, some aren't. But I did receive this e-mail today after contacting them directly cause facts seem tough to come by these days. It answers some of the questions, as you said, Jim was not banned, but then it brings to mind more questions than it answers....
"Hello Randy,
Thank you for your email!
I assume the rumor you are speaking of is the DragRacingOnline.com article regarding Jim Oddy being asked to leave our club? If so, please note that article is not accurate and a new article has since been published stating the truth of the matter. For the record, we never asked Jim to leave, he left on his own after not agreeing with proposed new guidelines.
Hope this helps!
Thanks and take care! Sincerely, Michael Campolucci Nostalgia AA/Gassers "

Nothing new for Oddy - when he came back to drag racing with the black - solid axle - stretched "legal" Top Sportsman Beretta at the Norwalk Halloween Classic in the late 80's - he ripped off several high six second passes well over 200 MPH was way ahead of any other top sportsman entries in top gun. Come Monday the car was deemed illegal and banned - then came the Black Mariah corvette it eventually got banned. The fact is Jim Oddy was and is still an innovator and was way ahead of everybody with the blown motor combo from his years of building offshore power boat motors. X2 When I frequented our track in my younger days Jim regularly visited Dragway Park in Cayuga (now T.M.P.) and beat up on the locals in our ProMod series. He had the blower tuneup figured out way before everyone else. They showed up prepared and always brought their "A" game.

Sounds kinda like they changed the rules to force him out, but make it sound like he just decided to leave.
My only experience w/ Oddy was a friend had one of Oddy's 540" blower motors in a pro mod style 4th gen Camaro. It was an absolute monster. He was always willing to help over the phone w/ tuneups...the motor actually broke Oddy's dyno, lol.

What ruins racing is when ONE team is so dominant, the other racers don't even bother. Remember how great funny car was in the 90s when John Force won every year from 1990-2002, except for 1992? Wasn't that great? Wasn't that so fun to watch?

Wasn't that great? Wasn't that so fun to watch? Also true. I guess there's no good way to go about it. The promoter needs to keep the field more even, but the winner won't agree to quit b/c no one can tough him. Kinda like our local street car shootouts...there's one car that runs 4.50s. It is just as much of a street car as anything else in the class, but no one comes close to running that kind of number.
