Just curious if it was possible to put an older steering wheel on a newer column. I have a 92 truck that i am putting a 73 front end on. I like the look of the older 73 steering wheel, but want to keep the newer tilt column. Can i just swap wheels or do they mount different?

They didn't come out with a tilt column for pickups until 1978 so most likely your 73 has a non tilt column so I would say no since the non tilt columns were made by chryler and had a different spline setup as opposed to the tilt columns which were gm saginaw units and had their own spline setup.

Thanks for the education. I had no idea the tilt column was a gm/saginaw design. Although, that opens up another question. Would a GM steering wheel fit on it then?

Eh the truck tilt columns till about 90 were Saginaw built. After that its a Chrysler design. This is the square plastic housing style.

I'm gonna guess no swappy. Horn contact is certainly different, splines maybe.

And no its not easy to swap in the older tilt column. Lots of wiring changes.
