My fiance's 2004 Grand Cherokee has developed a sort of thumping noise, which I thought was the CVS joint. I replaced the driver's side front CV assembly, and the noise was gone. Apparently that was short lived, since it has returned. The repair was done a week ago, so could I have misdiagnosed the problem?

Can anyone help me here?

Thanks

What all have you checked? Could be tires, could be other side CV,could be wheel bearing. Lots of things it could be. Could even be loose lug nuts.

Did you check the CV joint at the transfer case side of the front driveshaft? They are prone to have boot failure and wear out quickly after this happens.

Located the problem. Was the u-joint on the front drive shaft. Replaced the part, problem solved!
