Hey Guys I need some help locating the person that was making the real nice custom B1 valve covers. It may have been Al that posted about them last year. Might be the right time to grab a set and glitter up my engine some. Thanks

Hey John,

Look at the "Billet valve cover" listing that's a couple of listing below in this section.

Maybe what you're looking for is in there???

I see the B1 cover from Australia but I think these were made in the states. Hate to see the shipping on those plus the time.

Pittsburgh the ones that Alan Jones (Australia) makes are nice. I don't think the shipping would be much at all, get him to price sending Australia Post, I would guess $60usd and I don't think time is a problem, I can land stuff from USA quicker than getting it from the other side of OZ, sometimes 6 days .

Thanks for the heads-up (get it) I actually bought a set of these years ago and never used them. I looked at the today when I grabbed my T&D rockers so I will try them out. I have a new set of the ones that come in the B1 package but they are kinda boring. Thanks again.

Make sure on the valve covers that you choose that they will clear YOUR distributor, B1 heads are a pain on that part shruggy scope
The covers they, Koffels, sell won't work stock with the MSD distributors sold today runaway
I was lucky to find one original set of B1 covers two years ago for the B1 I built, I needed two sets, still need one set more unless I go to a Jesel front mount belt drive distributor whiney shruggy

I'm happy with the ones I got from Scott Brown years ago. Not sure he's still around. They have a nice thick billet rail. Mine is Indy heads but they also work on B1.

I'll try to round up what I have today. I'm ready to throw a head on to check valve to piston clearance before I put the rest of the pistons in. Degreed the cam in yesterday so I'm slowly moving forward

Doug Lee makes nice valve covers, I have some for W-9 heads, the only ones I could find that cleared triple springs without grinding.

He does custom work so I would think he could handle B-1 heads.

I stopped making them for a little while. Had a few things to sort out, and they're something I do in my own time. I price them shipped to your door, postage usually takes around 4-5 days. I'm making some changes with them, as I want to check that they clear a few types of distributors. Shoot me an email if you want some more info,

Had a chance to try a couple of valve covers today. It looks like both will work fine as far as sealing but I didn't get a chance to check distributor fitting yet as that's pretty much a non issue for me. I will make it work, trust me. LOL I have had these 440source valve covers on a shelf for YEARS and I am surprised by the quality.

Did you check them with the rockers installed? Have had to do some serious girnding with the individual style T&D's with the ones I have installed.

No I have not. I just put one set of rockers on to check for pushrod clearance, setting rocker scrub pattern, and valve to piston clearance. Really moving forward in "baby steps" on this build checking and rechecking everything multiple times. Fun but tedious.

I had to laugh the other day. I called Friend Tom Hemphill yesterday that has built a lot of B1 engines over the years and he warned me that the B1 covers will hit the individual rockers like I have and went on to say the 440source ones work great with a little clearancing for the distributor.
