I know I am not supposed to be running a Ford rear under my D50 but that is what is under it. I broke a axle the last time I was at the track and I need to figure out what spline to go with. I was running after market 28 spline. I need to upgrade, what spline count would you run 30,31,33 or 35. I only have about a month to get back track ready.

If you have to buy axles and spool anyway, go to 35 and be done.

iagree

Buy the biggest and you will have eliminated one issue, but you will find others like undersized U-joints. BTW did you pull the transmission (I assume you are using a Torqueflite) and check for a rolled sprague?

Just be aware that 35 spline will require a 3.25" bore case. If you have a 3.062" bore case, you can either run 33 spline axles, or go with a Mark Williams spool. The spool is longer, so your axles will be slightly shorter. The other option will be searching through the Timken catalogue and finding a different bearing.

Secondly, do you have the large or small axle bearing? Small bearing will require new housing ends

Just went through this after a mate broke his 31 spline locker . Though you can get a 33 or i think also a 35 into a 3.0 case you will shortly after break the case as the bearing is so narrow/small . Sell your current centre and upgrade while you can sell it .

Shucks, if bigger is better, go with 40 or 44-splines. laugh2
