Yup a heavy wall 5/16 will work, but don't forget you can get 11/32 diameter as well. I wanted 3/8 but no way could I get it so I went 11/32 heavy wall and I think it is .125 wall.

didn't know that 11/32 was available. glad to have another option. cab, will the adjusters still pass oil to the fulcrum at 3 threads? how many turns/threads shut the oil off. need to know the limit.

It's the geometry effect of the offset intake rockers. Picture a triangle that starts at the lifter: the vertical line represents the pushrod length for the no-offset exhaust rocker; the horizontal line at the top of the triangle represents the intake rocker offset; the angled line from the lifter to the other end of the horizontal line is the longer pushrod for the offset intake rocker.

Exhaust valve lengths for inline valve engines are usually longer than intakes because of the thicker valve margins. The effective seat-to-tip lengths are virtually the same.

Once you determine the pushrod length.

Go on ebay and type that length in .025" increments. Your search should be nascar pushrod 9.125". You may be surprised how cheap you can find a double taper trick of the century pushrod made by companies like manton, trend and some of the same sold under another name such as cv products.

Its a long shot when they are this long. But, I have bought double taper high radius 9/16" pushrods for $30 for set of 8.


Career best 8.02 @ 169 at 3050# and 10" tires small block power.

my lengths are 9.200/9.250. I have to be careful how far I stray away from those lengths as every turn of the adjusters is equal to .050 and I don't want to block my oil flow at the adjuster which happens at 3 threads or more out and -1 thread in. I measured lengths at 1 thread out. I will take a look thou.

I just got off the phone with Manton. They recommend 3/8 pushrod, but said I could get away with 11/32 .120 wall with the 400# open pressures. $12.35ea. Think i'll get the Mantons.

I agree. Most pushrod aren't stiff enough.

I went with the same deal as you are considering. I damn near bought 11/32-5/16 single taper pushrods but I'm getting ready to do W-2 heads so I said screw it.

That engine will get 3/8-7/16 double taper pushrods even tough it will be SFT.

Not this time around. I was told summit racing pushrods are made by trend. Is that true. Never had Mantons and wanted to give them a try.
