Ive always used a old gasket and snugged it but either way ya go, what your maybe .010 difference.
Id watch more for the pushrod travel and getting the length correct for the best geometry.
Do you have the dummy adjustable to go by?

Dave just barely snug about three bolts with head gasket no big deal--with Harlands you will notice that the old two thread rule may have the adjusters a little deep--I would say one thread showing--The SECRET is do not try and figure the BS effective length--Just do a very simple overall length--the diff in cup depth between makes is negligible Smith Bros and an overall length is the key You can screw up maybe .025 and still be aok but use a height gauge or a big caliper not a tape measure and just round it off don't order some crazy 9.316 stuff OK? Also check first many Harland applications need lash caps to help ( not correct) geometry A Sharpie is your friend here--Sharpie up the tip or lash cap and then just slide the rocker across the tip several times-- adjust pushrod length to keep it as near center as possible - this is done with valve closed at rest never mind cycling it as your adjustable pushrod will just collapse under the spring pressure-while this is not perfect to make an A on a test it is for sure good enough to run the S%#@ out of any Mopar Now it is best to jimmy up some kind of pushrod near the correct length and check geometry but if it is whacked what ya gonna do--shims? lash caps? Let us know if you need more help

I have the new harland sharp rockers for victor head and will be measuring for pushrod length tomorrow. My question is do i need to torque head to spec or can i just snug it to 30ftlb with the marine gaskets. I still need to check piston to valve once i get the new p rods. Snugs ok. A used gasket is better. After I get it where I want it with my adjustable pushrod ( using checking springs), I just send my checker in with my pushrod order and have them ( whom ever you use)send it back with the new pushrods. "I need 8 (or 16) this length".

Are your heads Victors or the Super Victor M.W. port heads? The S.V. M.W. use a different set of H.S. rockers than the Victors do I found that out the hard way I ordered the ones for M.W. S.V though Summit and ended up with the regular Victor rocker set up, Summit screwed up that up Harland Sharp took care of it for me no charge either way Are you using offset intake roller lifters ? If so have 8 made for each of the intakes and 8 for the exhaust rockers IHTHs

with some light springs & the adj (checking) pushrod I would check EVERYTHING: VP clearance/pushrod angle/threads showing/cup to rocker clearance/coil bind height of the regular springs/retainer to seal/WIPE PATTERN/rocker to retainer, all those clearances.

The valve at zero lift and full lift should rest in the same place, close to the rocker (not centered). Half lift should pass across the stem tip and reach toward the far side. The 25% and 75% lift points should be centered, but even this is less important than having the smallest possible sweep path.

I think it was Andy, welded a dial indicator sideways on a retainer & used it to measure sweep. trick! I'm gonna make one.

Not sure why im getting two differnt measures but intake pushrod is 9.250 and ex. Is 9.200. Think ill just order all 9.225. Looks like i can only fit 5/16 pushrod in there. Shim the rockers side good.010 and I think you can run 3/8 with a good side wall thickness.Mine run close to the head but never touched but are std port.
