I am getting ready to order a pushrod checker. I see they come in different ranges. This is for a Lowdeck big block with B1 heads and a roller cam.
What length should I get???
You want one with a range of 8.575" long. That's the stock lo deck pushrod length for 383 and 400s.

If you want to do it on the cheep use a collapsable radio antenna, insert it ,extend it out, mark it with a sharpie, take it out and measure it. It will be the same as a boughten one.
it's ok to butt heads, just don't do it with a butthead

Take a stock pushrod, cut about 1.5" out of the middle, tap both ends with a 1/4-28 tap use a 2.5" lenght of 1/4-28 all-thread & two nuts.....You now have a pushrod checker...
that's what i've done only i used a smith brothers that a chipped cup on one end thought it didn't affect the measurement

I needed a cup type so i bought the one trick flow makes... we will se how it works!!!
if any one needs to borrow it when im finished just let me know!!!
I prefer to use a ball/ball type rod for that measurment as it's pretty easy to hold it centered on the adjuster ball for the measurment & you need to measure the length from the bottom of the cup to the ball tip of the pushrod...
