Was this aluminum molding package unique only to the Western Sport Special Dart?
May be doing a mild resto on this and was curious.
Running 318 car, auto, factory air, but no tinted windows
3 spoked Wood wheel and painted white top, I assume WSS package ?
.. or were they options.

I believe only the fender and door trim was the same on the Dart Custom and interchangeable with the WSS. I have had two 69 WSS's and have seen around 10 total. I have never seen part numbers for the trim package on the WSS, if it is out there that may give you the answer. Take a look at this video of a 69 Custom, what do you think?

The funny thing about science is that if you change one miniscule parameter you change the entire outcome to the way you want it.

1st: I am an interweb idiot! I don't know how to link or whatever ...

but if you go to the goggle search at the top of the page it will show you a member here who has or had one, goes by 1969wss ... in the 2003 online car show.

I have had two Darts that have had this moulding, one a '69 LL that was factory with them, and a '73 that I used them on, ordered new, to hide some of my less than stellar quarter panel work ... plus I like them.

In my '69 parts book, in the listing for Dart LL hardtop is the moulding, AND 2 insets for the WSS decals, for some reason it shows it as possibly being on both ends of the car (?). Front fender just behind the headlight, and on the quarter, like yours, near the tail light.

I have never seen a '69 WSS, only a few '68s, they were 2 dr sedans, with vinyl top and mouldings, and a cast WSS emblem.

Couldn't off hand tell you the difference, but the Dart Custom (LH) mouldings carry a different part #.

Geo I have no idea. That is the pic of 1969wss' dart. But I wouldn't doubt it.

Good eye from a straight on shot.

It takes gasoline to interest me.

Most were Darts. Used to see them around here often. Probably seen more but with the 69 decals, if the car or panel got repainted the decals were rarely put back on. Not particularly rare or desirable than other 318 or /6 Darts.

I've seen 68's with "Sport Special" ~2"x3" die cast fender badges. I have fenders originally of one that the emblem was removed to sell it.

Is that a 68 Western Sport Special. Or was the name actually Sport Special that everyone assumes is a Western Sport Special.

I had a '69 Dart WSS in the early '70s - T7 I think (dark bronze anyway), black VT & interior, 318/904/AC car. Last known whereabouts Big Bear, CA. I removed the "Western" lettering one day but left the rest...you know, hopping it up. The side moldings seemed different than the other Darts that had them from the factory; no insert and rather narrow.
It was a regional trim deal, like the Mustang California Special & etc.
For whatever that sketchy info is worth...

Really?! That would be cool. I've always hoped that car survived and was appreciated, it was a really nice car & sweet driver. I seem to recall that the last time I saw it that it had some rear bumper damage. That would have been early/mid-1980s.
I don't think I have any photos of it. At one point a neighbor had creased the left door, and I had it repaired, but the color was off a bit. It was totally stock when I had it aside from removing the "Western" script, lowering the nose a little, and blacking out the grille like a GTS.

A friend of my sons has a 69 WSS here in Tucson. I'll see if I can get some pictures of it.
