Was talking to someone tonight about swapping a Slant 6 to a 318 in my 72 Swinger.

I mentioned buying Schumacher or Transdapt mounts. He said its not even required. I cant recall what exactly he said, but something to the effect of the only thing needed was either a driver or passenger motor mount out of a v8 Dodge truck from the 70's( 72-on??)

This sounded familiar as a close friend of mine and his dad pulled the 318 out of a 74 Duster and put it in a 75 Dodge truck that originally had a slant 6,no Schumacher mounts or aftermarket mounts were needed. It was a direct Bolt in.

I mentioned something to the guy telling me about the swap and the mounts, that he must be talking about Spool mounts,he said he was talking about the biscuit mounts.

Can anyone clarify this info for me?

The one side is the same as the truck mount.

The transdapt stuff is much less than shu stuff.

Whats a better swap kit? Transdapt or Schumacher?

I understand that with the Schumacher mounts some cutting/fabricating is required,is this true. What about the Transdapt kit,any fabrication/Cutting neccessary?

Theres no cutting with any of the kits if you're running biscuit mounts- thats when you're using a /6 spool mount K frame.

If you can get a factory V8 bracket for the dr side you can use the pass side from an 80's truck, I've done this since before there were conversion mounts and it works fine.

The transdapt stuff is probably fine but I try to use factory parts where I can, they are usually built better than the aftermarket stuff.

Schumacher stuff is roughly 10 times as good as Trans-Dapt. Only 2 reasons to buy TD is if you cannot find it or make it yourself, or if you like having things break.
Support Schumacher, a Mopar-only shop, or at least they were at startup (I haven't kept up with them).
