Nice find David!!
That Street Car Takeover race was a bunch of fun, but just re-confirmed how far I've drifted away from being a competitive index racer!
First pass of the day was just the way I drove the car to the track, exhaust still on, no burn-out (during the roll racing, so no water in the box), no bottle and it went 10.82-124.5
I made two more runs N/A, then went 10.30-129, accidentally shifting to drive when I hit the nitrous. So by eliminations, I wasn't anywhere near the .4 tree or the 10.00 index.
Looks like Billy needed to tighten things up a bit at the stripe
He was probably anticipating a crazy top end charge from that turbo jeep thing.
Guilty on both counts. He had .02 in the bank when we left the tree, which I made up by 100ft out on the bottle.
Then we were in second gear and at the top of second, he moved out on me by about a half a car and I thought, "Dang, maybe I don't have enough for this twin turbo monster".
As soon as I clicked drive the little nitroused small block just started pulling around that jeep like it was tied to a post, but I didn't have the courage to start backing in for fear that once it spooled up in drive he'd come back on me.
I looked over like four times, and made the rookie mistake of driving out of the groove on the top end, which is why it looks like my car moved around from his vantage point. I got off the nitrous, then off the gas before the stripe, but still took way too much.
He went 10.05, and had .02, so I had a three hundredths window, which back in the SST days would've been cake! Now, I manage to miss it by a tenth!
I was a fun event, I drove 32 miles to the track, made five passes with a best of 9.91, and drove it back home, so it was a darn good day!
