Looks like Billy needed to tighten things up a bit at the stripe smile

He was proably anticipating a crazy top end charge from that turbo jeep thing.

Nice find David!!
That Street Car Takeover race was a bunch of fun, but just re-confirmed how far I've drifted away from being a competitive index racer!

First pass of the day was just the way I drove the car to the track, exhaust still on, no burn-out (during the roll racing, so no water in the box), no bottle and it went 10.82-124.5

I made two more runs N/A, then went 10.30-129, accidentally shifting to drive when I hit the nitrous. So by eliminations, I wasn't anywhere near the .4 tree or the 10.00 index.

Guilty on both counts. He had .02 in the bank when we left the tree, which I made up by 100ft out on the bottle.
Then we were in second gear and at the top of second, he moved out on me by about a half a car and I thought, "Dang, maybe I don't have enough for this twin turbo monster".
As soon as I clicked drive the little nitroused small block just started pulling around that jeep like it was tied to a post, but I didn't have the courage to start backing in for fear that once it spooled up in drive he'd come back on me.

I looked over like four times, and made the rookie mistake of driving out of the groove on the top end, which is why it looks like my car moved around from his vantage point. I got off the nitrous, then off the gas before the stripe, but still took way too much.

He went 10.05, and had .02, so I had a three hundredths window, which back in the SST days would've been cake! Now, I manage to miss it by a tenth!

I was a fun event, I drove 32 miles to the track, made five passes with a best of 9.91, and drove it back home, so it was a darn good day!

That's a real good day! What is your gear ratio and tire height?

Tires are 29 tall, with 3.89 gears in the 9".

Converter is a tight 8 inch from JW, and I have a low gear set in the 904. Cruising with traffic is between 2800 (55ish) to 3200 (65-70) depending on the speed limit.

The converter is a little tight, and the gear is a little tall for N/A. My best is 10.39-128, but weather and altitude slow it down to typical 10.50-10.70 range.

I'm only spraying about 175hp, but it's really all the converter can handle, and on the spray I think the car would prefer a 3.73 gear. The best is 9.65-138.

A street car that you want to drive, go fast on the bottle, and still bracket/index race NA...it's all about compromise, and balance! I'm very happy with the Valiant, but constantly searching for a little more...

Sounds like a good combo. I'm trying to figure out my 'compromises' right now for my street car.
