Just about to get Fuel lines installed. Any thoughts on the Nylon versus braided steel lines. The only advantage that I can see with nylon is that it is easier to install. I would expect them to be less durable.

personaly i'd go steel. my concerns with nylon is durability when you have a wee fire. you never expect to have fire, but you never know when your competition in the brand X car, in the next lane has an ooopsy & crashes into you & you're both on fire. will those nylon fuel lines not melt thru in the short time you need to get your butt outta the chair & escape? i don't know but do you feel lucky?

I think you have to read the rule books. I believe you are allowed no more than 12" of rubber fuel line.

I use the Aeroquip Socketless hose for all my fuel and oil lines. It is easy to install and the fittings are a lot less expensive, especially in steel or brass. It is also easier to keep clean than the lines with the SST braid.

I think that in a fire even stainless braided hose will melt inside and will not make a diffrence. I can tell you that the black braided hose does not hold up to fire form personal expierence.

i can tell you from experience that in a fire situation the braided steel line is no better,i think that it may be worse becuase it can get hot enough to blister and still look good on the outside.

I don't think the NASCAR boys use SST hose anymore at all. Every picture I've seen lately the cars are plumbed with the lightweight black braided hose with crimped on fittings.

is any of the nylon braided hose even legal in NHRA? i haven't found any yet that says it is.
i'mnot a fan of the socketless hose either. isn't that just a PVC hose? is it legal for NHRA?

i had some black nylon hose for tranny lines and got too close to the header and melted a hole in it. i still like the steel line all though the nylon is much lighter

NHRA told me the blue Aeroquipt socketless hose was legal for all fluids.

Sounds like you need to keep up with the times. NHRA has allowed various types of hoses for a long time. Part numbers are listed in the rule book.

not sure who your referring to but i was told by russell that their nylon braided hose was not NHRA approved. i got a similar response from Earls.
i know some of the steel braided line IS approved though.
the nylon braided hose is very popular because of its lightweight and ease of assemble.
