The 7AL2 will do the job as well as th any of the other 7 sereis boxes with the proper coil, the MSD Pro Power, Malloru 28880 or the proper # MSD HVC coil for the digital 7 boxes I have used the early non digital 7 boxes on blown motor using 22 lbs. of boost on race gas at 7300 rpm BTW, you do need good plug wires also
Mr.Cab Racing and winning with Mopars since 1964. (Old F--t, Huh)

You can run it as it comes. It has a 2 step built in, but no start retard, and I'd do that.
It's hard on caps, rotors, and wires, but it'll light'm when others will stumble. Not quite a mag, but still an arc welder. Make sure you don't let it bite you, it hurts. The MSD tester kits that come with the ceramic clip on sparky bit you hook to your coil wire to test it will literally melt if you leave it on for long. The box draws something like 25 amps at 8,000RPM so make sure the batts are up.

I personally will never use MSD again. There is a better unit for the same $$$. Much better quality. I had an MSD Digital 6 and had popping for years before I switched it out. Checked and changed everything. MSD checked the box twice at the track, right in front of me. Bought a new distributor even, wires, etc. Changed the box to a Crane HI-7 and PS92 Coil. Problem GONE.. Here is the better choice instead of a Digital 6.. http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail...mp;autoview=skuAlong with a LX92 Coil. $64.00 Just my.. See for yourself.. http://www.cranecams.com/?show=article&id=12Also try to find a DEC 9000 or 9500 engine controller and you have a sweet set up. Chris..
