Does anyone out there build a front steer/kmember conversion that retains the torsion bars and the mopar spindle? How hard would it be to convert a qa1 k member and lower control arms? would using the mustang II spindles make it more doable?

There are rack set ups for even the stock K member and of coarse aftermarket . Google rack and pinion modifications for dodge/plymouth K members

it's ok to butt heads, just don't do it with a butthead

just be aware that flipping the lower balljoints from side to side to convert to front steer without doing anything to the joint arms will result in reverse ackerman geometry and goofy bump steer patterns. some setups on the market are pretty crude, so you must do your homework before spending your money, finding out later you made a costly mistake. a complete suspension system designed as a front steer with torsion bars replaced with coil overs may be the best way to go even though it will be a more costly option, depending on your fab and geometry skills.

Small block?
Big block?
Street?
Race only?
Road race?

Buying one is out of my budget,so I fabbed mine. Not as easy as it appears.

I have built 2 from scratch,One on my Cuda` and one for my Satellite.
Cuda race only with the engine back 9",was pretty easy.
Satellite street car LOTS of things to address, but finally got it.
Basic problem is the engine and oil pump is where the rack needs to be.
In my opinion modifying/changing the oil pan and keep REAR steer would solve 75% of the engineering issues.A rear sump pan allows rear steer.
If I do another, thats what I will build.

My only goal was to get rid of the center link so I could run a chassis style pan that did not hang below the k member and still have a seven quart pan, I just looked at the milodon road race pan and it holds 7 quarts, so I think I will just go that route. Buying an oil pan is a lot cheaper and a lot less work! Thanks for the input.
