OK we have a 528 hemi with a 4 speed in a 66 Coronet. It has a 6 cylinder Z bar bent in a wreck we think. It works but the pedal will not come all the way up unless I pull it with my foot. So I presume it's wearing the TO bearing. There are 2 holes in the down bar of the Z bar, we are in the top with the clutch rod. Try the bottom??? What are we doing wrong? I have never set a single disc RAM street clutch. Thanks

First thing is check all the linkage to be sure it's installed in straight lines. As so not to bind. Is the zbar straight and pretty much level from the frame to the trans? Are there good bushings on both ends of the zbar where it pivots? Does the clutch pedal move smoothly with the linkage disconnected? Do you know if there is a big difference between the 6 cyl Zbar and a V8 bar arms that could make a leverage issue?

Is there a spring between the throw out fork and the bellhousing? "Fork return spring" in the pic below.

Thanks guys. Unfortunately the frame is tweaked and pulled the best we can. Z Bar not perfectly horizontal but seems to be functional. The return spring we have was not on properly so that may fix it. That sketch helped. Will give an update tomorrow. Thanks again.

Note that in 66 there was a couple of different Z-Bars, they were the same width but the tab for mounting the rod pushing back to the clutch fork is slightly different. In my 70RR I had major alignment issues for the Z-bar pulled it out and took it over to our local Mopar guru. He pulled out (3) different Z-bars all same width but each had the tab in a slightly different position. U want the one where the rod pushes back in parallel with the bell housing. U mite want to call Dan or Wayne over @ Brewers for more specific info.

As stated above Brewer Performance can help. Their web site list the different components for your application. Linkage { there are different lengths } might be the same but I think the bell crank is different.

it's ok to butt heads, just don't do it with a butthead
