Sounds like a 1974 model year hood. Is it original to the car? any pics?

There's some rhyme to reason with the 71-74 hoods I just can't remember it. It goes something like this: 1971 - cowl vents across entire hood (example: 30-inches) 1972 - cowl vents across hood, divided in center by a gap so it looks like two vents (30-inch) 1973 - cowl vents across hood but only 24 inches long 1974 - no cowl vents Of course - 73 hoods can be found on 74 cars, 72 hoods on 73 cars, etc. My .

Nope. This picture clearly shows bulges.

Yes it does and the hood also. I guess I was thinking of the Satellites that ran flat hood.

Okay ya'll... I have it figured out; here we go!
1971 thru 1974 Chargers came with hoods. The end.
Seriously now - I have ALL ORIGINAL cars/hoods; I just went and took pictures of all but one. Here are the results:
1971 Charger 500, 383, flat hood, cowl vents WITH gap in center 1971 Charger Superbee, 383 magnum, bulge hood, cowl vents NO gap 1971 Charger R/T, 440 sixpack, air grabber hood, cowl vents NO gap 1971 Charger R/T, 440 magnum, louvered hood, cowl vents WITH gap 1974 Charger SE, 440, flat hood, NO cowl vents 197x Charger UNK, UNK, power bulge hood, ???? (this hood is in storage - will check tomorrow!)

Well i guess me and charger440sixpack have non original R/T hoods used on a Super Bee?
I'm sure the different hoods have more to do with where they are built rather than production year. I know that different factory's had slightly different ways of applying decals and routing wires, etc. Either way it's no big deal really.
I am not 100% sure if the hood on my car is the original hood, but there is no doubt that it is a 71 hood because that is the only year they made those types of hoods. The AG hoods are different and were used in 72 too.
