It's been so long since I have ran factory exhaust manifolds but do you need gaskets between the head and exhaust manifold?

It depends on the head and manifold mating surfaces, if there both flat you shouldn't need them scope
Do you want to take a chance now or take preventive measures work shruggy

I used Rimflex gaskets on my Bigblock. They seal real tight.

I made sure both surfaces were flat, and used no gaskets on my road runner. No leaks after 5 years.
