Just swap the Magnum timing cover for an LA, this takes care of the water pump and alternator problem. The mechanical fuel pump can be used with a kit to install the eccentric on the Magnum cam. Some good info here: http://www.magnumswap.com/using-la-parts-on-a-magnum/

You will have to use the early style 5.9 magnum balancer to use LA pullies. The later balancer have pulley/balancer 1 piece. I was unable to source a new old style pulley on my last build. All of the new ones I found were the 1 piece design. Had to get one from the salvage yard. Pre-99 engines should have the bolt on pulley.

Not finding that number in my book. Which intake is that? MP black valve covers?
I don't know about putting LA E/manifolds on a Mag. head but I've seen Dakota manifolds on 340 heads in a 71 Cuda.

To answer your several questions. I am running a 5.2L Magnum which is physically similar. Fuel pump: You can get an eccentric that goes onto the nose of the cam shaft, I did not and went with electric Timing cover: LA cover bolts right on and does not leak Water pump: Same as above. Heads: I opted for Engine Quest heads with the LA angle drill for intake. Hughes also has a similar head Intake: I used a LD4B originally, now have Edelbrock Performance but only because the LD4's radiator hose and thermostat housing interfered with the A/C compressor (A Sanden conversion, the RV2 fit just fine) Flex plate: Using the original 904 plate. Exhaust manifold: Using the original LA. Since your are using a 360, I would look elsewhere for that solution. Only issue was the alternator had to be spaced out a bit as it was too close to a mounting boss on the heads. It was heating the diodes in the back of the alternator making them fail prematurely. Power steering strictly stock. The only thing I could not use from the LA was the oil pan which I borrowed from a newer 360 to bolt on. Craig

I am using the LA valve covers. Not as many bolts but it does bolt on. I have had only one leak, passenger side at the middle bolt. Cinched it down a little tighter, leak gone.

If you are using an automatic, then you use the stock 5.9 Mag flexplate and a neutral balance converter. Mags carry the imbalance on the flexplate, 360s have the imbalance on the converter. [5.2 Mags are internally balanced, as are all 318s.] If you will use the converter from behind a an LA 360, the imbalance weights must be removed, and the 5.9 Mag flexplate used. R. Hey Dog, for the record does that apply for both 904's and 727's. I would assume so but before I copy it I want to confirm.

I have a M1 that I'd sell if I get an Edelbrock for mine. Also to correct myself, 340 E/manifolds do fit on the Magnum heads as well as the 340 valve covers. I'm also looking for some of the black cast MP 10 bolt Magnum valve covers.

Never tried it but I read once where a guy drilled down vertical into the LA intake then used spacers under the bolt head with an angle on the lower side of the spacer to match the angle on the LA intake. If I did not have a Mag intake I would try it

Ted, Edelbrock makes a Performer RPM Airgap for Magnum motors. Summit sells a Chinese knockoff called a Crosswind. A long time ago, a Moparts member had a jig to redrill Magnum heads to fit an LA intake. If I remember right, it disappeared and has never been seen again. Check on Rock Auto for a 5.9 flex plate. The harmonic balancer and the flex plate have to match on Magnum motors. As for Magnum exhaust manifolds, there are different versions. The most common have 1 7/8 exits, and the better ones have larger openings. 2 1/4, I think?

I was one of the ones who rented the "jig" when it was in circulation. I think a person could mockup the LA intake on the longblock then make a centerpunch mark down the LA intake manifold holes onto the head deck surface then remove the intake/heads & drill/tap the heads in that location(s) which was what the jig did. If the area on the heads you would be drilling into was solid it would work fine (with the jig it was borderline)
