Going have to rebuild the transmission on my 72 superior motorhome (m300 chassis), it got ran low on fluid and toasted the clutches. Its got the 413 with the 727 behind with the parking brake drum on the tailshaft.

What I'm wondering is what else should I upgrade while in there, I am leaning towards getting mrrandys billet servos and alto reds kit. Should I also go with a bolt in sprag or is that overkill? This is a "small" rv, only 20ft bumper to bumper and weights right at 10k.

I would call up CRT and see what he says, personally I would get a rebuild kit with the alto reds, the cheaper bolt in sprag (not the Super Sprag), a TF shift kit, a solid front band and possibly an HD band strut. If it doesn't have a deep pan it will also be a solid upgrade.

For your application I wouldn't do anything other than a good performance overhaul kit and a Transgo reprogramming kit. All that other stuff is a waste of money in a motorhome.

Sounds like a dedicated trans temp gauge will be a good idea, too. Mr Kunkel is a long-time mopar transmission expert here on Moparts and his advice typically is sound.

I think the MH tranny is pretty HD as it sits.
If you're going to change the sprag use the Super Sprag. The bolt-in has the same weaknesses as the stocker.

Since sprag problems seem to go with rear ends blowing or driveshafts failing, is that going to happen to your motorhome?
