70 440 electronic ignition. It occasionally would not start after sitting. Few days later it would be fine. This time its done. Tried it after sitting for a month.....no spark. The only thing I have tried so far is running a wire from the battery to the coil. Haven't had much time to check anything else. Any suggestions on where to go from here would be greatly appreciated...

4 pin ECU/2 terminal "single" ballast conversion I am assuming. did it start when you jumped it? pull the yellow wire with tracer off of the "ign" terminal on the starter relay to disable the starter & have a helper hold the key to "start" & you under the hood see if the coil positive primary terminal and the blue/yellow wire at the ECU pentastar connector are hot (both should be & need to be)

Update.. took a shot in the dark and replaced the coil. Still no spark. I bypassed the resistor, still no spark. I'm thinking the ECU or ignition switch. I don't want to spend the money on an ECU if I don't have to. Any help is greatly appreciated

see if the coil/ECU are being fed, then we'll go from there

Double check the reluctor gap, should be 0.008", if too wide and can vary with cold temperatures the ignition box won't fire..

Just my $0.02... wink
