One lap of Willow Springs in a Hellcat. Hellcat reels in a Lotus Elise and Samy in his 1968 Dart (and all three reel in a 911 along the way), but not before Samy impressively hits about 130mph on the main straight.

Note that this is not a race, but a gentlemanly Track Day where passing is restricted to three specific areas of the course.

When you think you have cleared your trunk of every last item before hitting the track at Willow Springs...

The can sprayed about 1/2 of its contents all around the trunk lining during the course of the day.

Thanks for posting the video! That lotus spun right in front of coming off of turn 4-5. That whole passing in certain areas sure went out the window quick. By far the best battle I saw was the short stretch off 2 going into 3. The Daytona and the Mustang were going at it right behind me in turn 2, so I let em go by on the right side coming out of 2...they drag raced into the corner, with Mustang and lots of smoke coming out of it go off turn 3 into the dirt and narrowing missing the Daytona. He blew his engine when he lost it apparently trying to out run the Daytona. That was the first few laps in the first session. I wish I had video of that!

No it was the primered 95ish Mustang. There may be footage of it if the Daytona had a go pro in it.

Does anybody have videos from there, or know who the track photographers were? I know there was somebody in 4 taking pictures.

Don't know about track photographers, but I have more dashcam and in-car gopro footage than any sane person would want to sit through.

I will try in the next week to edit down or otherwise compress some of the more interesting parts (but I guess others will have to be the judge on that point).

They will all be on the HeckCat channel on youtube, but I will post links in this thread, too.

At 7:25 the Daytona blows the doors off the Porsche !! And the guy posts a comment that is a 72 Superbird that was an ex-Cup car. And that is was driven ex Nascar pro.

Narrative: Ran two laps and came up behind a huge clump that would have taken half the session to get straightened out, so pulled off and re-entered the track for better spacing. Was content to run much of the session hanging behind a green Challenger that was slower but driven more proficiently. Being the first run of the day, there was no need to pass him, and then perhaps hang HIM up in the corners.

Passed UNDER YELLOW by a testosterone-laden millennial in his Ford Fiesta, and later by Sean in his Daytona.

Narrative: Was doing the best I could to keep up with a nimble Porsche Cayman GTS who had a SLIGHT cornering advantage against my lumbering 4600 lbs of car + driver. In addition to letting the Cayman by, a seriously prepped Mustang driven by a serious driver also went by.

Nice picture of the Red Brick. Last time Tim had that car at Spring Fling was a few years back. I think he was running the 360 with Eddy heads at the time. The new 427 should push it around the track a little harder than the old 360!

Narrative: Final session of the day, with light participation. The center infotainment screen is set to see the G-forces. Initially, I am content to see how well I can stay with the Cayman GTS, which is much better in the corners. I succeed in staying with him for a number of laps, despite his attempt to "leave me in the dust" (literally). Later, I follow Tim's car (I later find out he was not at the wheel) to watch his lines through the corners. After a few laps, I pass, and effectively have the track to myself.
