Yeah I looked at the doors and it's apparent a 6x9 wont just bolt into the hole. I was told 6x9 but think maybe that was a guess now lol Thanks!

6x9 for the convenience of availability and price, then front mount them so the factory door panel has no chance of interfering with the speakers and look 100% stock but sound much better. As far as rear speakers, I'm not much help as I have a ramcharger.

My speaker holes are never used, the opening in the door is 6.5"x4.5" so I got some trimming to do. My truck is a 1981 but the doors are from a 1990 I was told, maybe a different year but definitely newer doors. Regular cab step side

Well I tucked a couple Alpine Type R 6x9s in Boom Mat waterproof enclosures and they fit in the doors behind the stock panels. Doors had to be trimmed but it was an easy install.. Deck next.
Might look at a second set of speakers, but I don't want to see them.....
