I posted this in my thread in the Gen 3 section but I know it is not heavily traveled so I'll share here as well. Had our final test and tune of the year, track was very green, traction wasn't great and we were limited to 1/8th mile due to water seeping up through the tracks top end but I did manage to go: 6.422 @ 106.27 with a mediocre 1.438 60 foot. Based on past runs I've made that should run complete to about 10.11@132 in the 1/4. Very happy with my first season with the Gen 3, it hasn't missed a beat in over 150 runs down the track. Just change the oil and keep on trucking. No plans to change anything with the engine this winter, going to focus on lightening the car up and making it work better. Goal is to take at least 100# out of it. Might see a 9 second time slip in the spring.

I Nice run. Gotta love the simplicity of the Gen 3 motors. Too bad performance pieces are priced like gold. Not really, the stroker kits are very comparable in price. You can also use lots of STOCK parts. Stock lifters, stock rockers, stock heads. If someone was just getting into the mopar game it would be very very smart to start with a G3. The cost to switch from a big block or small block platform isn't cheap but the entry cost into a G3 isn't so bad.

Switching up from a small block would be the best alternative since the bellhousing patterns are the same. Things like electric water pump assemblies and intake manifolds get really expensive for a G3. Just finding a usable core engine is pretty difficult and expensive.

All you need it a decent 05-08 Car block and front timing cover. The rest is pieces you would buy for any other build, yes the intakes and electric water pumps are ridiculous. There is a complete 05 Jeep 5.7 with a rod knock but ran for $300 locally.

It's working out great for me because the guys that are selling to make the switch over over are selling stuff for pennies on the dollar. Lots of great deals for guys with money in hand when the deals come along. I'm to old to travel that road so I will be forced to run the OLD junk. Lol

Seems 1000hp isn't asking to much, up around 12-1300hp billet main caps help.

If you are only gonna make 500 or less the hemi is very expensive way to do it. Over that it starts to gain a lot of apeal. There are no cheap headers, no cheap intakes, no cheap ignition systems, no cheap used performance parts (except heads because they are all top notch), no cheap motot mounts, no cheap stroker kits (I can get a SCAT SB 408 for under $2000) cheapest gen III is over $3000. I have seen too many stock well cared for 5.7s spit rods out the side for no reason so I won't trust em with any performance build.

Congrats Dustin! I subscribed to your build threads, great info, I'd love to build one of these G3 Hemi's.
