My "new" '76 Volare wagon arrived yesterday and one project is clearly ahead of me - replace the carpet. I've replaced carpeting in several other cars but never a wagon. Right away I saw that the carpeting attached to the rear seat back and floor area is prebound and screwed into the metal. There are also a couple of small pieces fitted over the wheel wells on each side. Do you know of any vendors that sell carpeting for the wagons?

For the earlier B bodies it's the same as 4-door sedan carpet.
You might need to either specify "wagon", or maybe send a sample, or get additional carpet (as a roll) to do yours; I'm not familiar with your body style.
Both my '63 & '64 were sedan pattern, and I requested 4-speed;
same price & delivery time as a "regular" order.

I'm going to send a piece of old carpet to a vendor in hopes they have something close in color. This car, just like all the others I have worked on, has that "old car" smell, sort of mildew like. I am trying to figure out a way to get rid of that while I prepare for the carpet replacement. Anyone tried using something like "Febreeze" to get that darn smell out?

you can get the carpet set and order extra roll carpet. Cut it out and have the edges surged!
A place that does custom area rugs for a home. Tell them you want the egdes Surged not "binding" tell You want the edges Surged "like they do when a rug get fringe" it gets surged first. Not all shops do it!
So you will probery call a few places before ya find one that surges the edges{it is old time to surge}
Also a good read here.

My is to contact the big companies and see if any have a complete kit first. If you find no joy, try the local upholstery shops. Many times, they can do a pretty good job, with the only issue being curves. You may end up with a formed carpet from a big place for the front areas and some extra to do the back, as mentioned. It's best to find out all your options before pulling the trigger, and getting all the raw material from the same place if possible so it matches. When you have done your research, please post your results here for the next guy.
