Im looking to purchase a FAST air/fuel monitoring system. There are 2 types Im interested in. The first is a hand held mod. that has 2 O2 sensors for each side of exaust. the other is just a round gauge you mount in the car permanently and only one O2 sensor. I like the gauge better. Do you really need 2 sensors?? I already have the bungs welded to both header collectors. I havent priced the systems yet, Im sure the single sensor with round gauge is much cheaper. That is also a factor.
Car- 68 cuda, modified 340, runs 12s

I don't think you really need more than one.. but whatever you do.... I would use these guys

http://www.innovatemotorsports.com/

you need a controller to read wideband o2 sensors, their box will read up to 5 inputs, I think.. so would read one or both of your sensors, and a tach signal so you can do some data logging and figure out how at what RPMS you need to do your adjusting.

I would get the innovate LM1 wide band unit with the add on rpm converter & since you have bungs welded in on each side I would get 2 sensors. It's extra $$$ but you'll then have everything monitored

Innovate also makes an aux box that will accept multiple analog inputs. So, if you wanted to graph your AFR alongside, say, vacuum, throttle position, and RPM at any given moment, you can do it.

I've got an innovate LC-1 and an analog gauge for my dash. Unless something is very wrong, both sides of the engine should read the same, so IMO two sensors is not really needed.

thanks for all the input. Inovative seems like the brand everyone likes. Im still leaning on just one O2 sensor with gauge in car. Unless something is really wrong, both banks should be about the same. I can always swap sides and check if in doubt also. Im more street cruiser than dragstrip racer.

Don't leave the O2 sensor installed in the exhaust flow without it plugged in and heated. You'll smoke the thing in no time. The sensor needs to be heated at all times when the engine is running.

I have an LM with the RPM function. Works good. I just swap side to side.

Put anti-sieze on the o2 sensor threads.

The latest offering from innovative is having some issues. Might want to wait until the bugs are out of the system.
