I'm looking at buying a 96 Ram 1500 2 wheel drive truck. That thing sits awfully high. I'm a bit past the point I want to climb up into a truck, and jump down when I want to get out of it.

Is there an inexpensive way to lower that truck so I won't have to climb in? I'm thinking it needs to drop at least 3", but 6" might be better. It probably won't be hauling more then a couple hundred lbs of weight in the bed at any time, and mostly only 2 people. Gene

You can get a 2" lowering shackle set for the rear but the front is a whole new kettle of fish. A cheap set of tubular steps would be the easiest way to go. The ones on my Ram were $109 shipped. Took about an hour to install and are very solid.

i have a set of lowering springs and drop shackles i took off my mexican 2000 ramcharger----the previous owner was running some 20 inch wheels on it and the tires were wearing through the plastic inner fenders----i dont know how big a drop it was but it drove me nuts in a short while...dont know the source of the parts either....

Thanks all, the deal on the Ram 1500 fell through. Someone was quicker with the cash then I was. Gene

Yes,the vans have a spring pocket that let's a D-series truck sit lower when they are installed.I think it only fits the '93 and earlier trucks though. ~RT
