this weekend i stumbled across what is supposed to be a set of hughes stage 3 906 heads. they look similar to my stage 2 plus heads but i never saw those disasembled. they do have the 2.19 1.88 valves. just want to make sure that is what they are before i plan the build for them. also would these work well with a mopar .590 cam??

The BB Stage 3 heads did have 2.19" intake valves. They will be
extremely fragile. I don't think they do a Stage 3 on iron heads
anymore. IMO, a nice set of ported Edelbrocks would be more
cost effective, in the long run and more more power.

well i grabbed these for $500 and alum heads throw me in an 1100hp class. so by fragile what do you mean? my only doubt about these heads was that they didnt look "extremely" modified. neither did my stage 2's. but hughes seems to kinda do things different than the "pictures in the magazines".

By "extremely fragile", I mean thin, prone to cracks..........water in the cylinders, split cylinder walls, big $$$$$.

I know one set of Stage 3 906s went on a + .060" stock stroke, 440 and
ran 8.60s @ 150+ in a tube chassis Lebaron but, you could tell by looking
at the heads, they were "extremely" modified. Good luck with yours.

ok well i will have them flowed maybe to get an idea. still i thought $500 was pretty cheap for a fairly fresh set of heads with what looked like some nice portwork, + valves retainers locks springs etc. prob hang on to them for next build.

how did they look??? these dont seem to have much work done to the exhaust. just a little blending and some minor work to the floor. intake is gasket matched with a lot taken from the pushrod pinch and big change on the inside of the runner right before the turn to the valve. area around the valve guide doesnt seem to have a lot done to it (still a step before the valve stem) but that is how my stage 2+ heads looked. the stage 2+ have 2.19 intake valve w/extra porting on intake, do you know what your stage 3 flowed???
