30,000 miles now on my '14 Ram and time to change plugs. Do Moparts members just put a single copper plug in each hole for $2-$3 and forget it until the next 30,000?

Why change them so early? I changed mine at 75,000 and they still looked like new. It now has 160,000 and has had 2 plug changes. I did replace all 16 of them each time. Champion 7570 (RE14PMPB).

That's what I'd do,not a hard job just boring after the 11th plug lol.

My kids 04 we did at about 28K.He used Champion double platinums.His buddy works there so they were free.At about 80K changed them and the wires.Has over 110 now and still going good.Use a dab of antisieze on the threads and some diaelectric grease on the boots.Makes removing then next time easy.Rocky

OK there is confusion on my part. In 2014 looks like the recommended interval changed to 100,000. I'll just keep my $32 and wait. So it does appear the prior 30,000 mile recommendation was an overkill. I had a warranty call and the dealership quoted $540 for the plug swap and told me the plugs were due at 30,000.

I change mine first time on a 2010 power wagon at 28000 and the gap on the spark plugs was at .070. Ever since that I check them every 25000. I can not see going that long on a spark plug.

I've run double platinum a minimum of 75,000 miles in three different vehicles and none of them was missing when I removed the plugs. One of them did have a pretty big gap, like 0.060, but it was still firing. OBDII will let you know if there's a misfiring plug.
My last set of plugs was DensoTT. This is the leading edge in spark plugs, as far as I can tell. I only had to buy four. The original double platinum Champions were at 115,000 miles and were pretty well worn out.
For your truck it's the Denso 4703 at $5.53 each or the Autolite XP5325 at 4.45 each with a $2.50 rebate per plug. That calculates out to a little more than $2.00 per plug with shipping. It's pretty hard to resist.

I've changed the plugs in mine 5 or 6 times in 280,000 miles and still have not improved on my times. 16 plugs with half of them under the windshield, brake booster, etc !!!

I know the earlier hemi's had the 30k plugs and later 100k I think. The owners manual does not seem to have kept up somehow.

I have changed them quite a few times... not a bad job but takes some time and patience. I like to give the coil connectors a little shot of WD40 before removing. They unlock and slip off easier. As mentioned, a little anti-seize on the threads when they go back in.

My 08 Ram had the original plugs in when I got it at 72,000 miles. The plugs looked fine, and I saw no MPG or other improvements by changing them.

Its possible the plugs had been changed but the truck came with records for everything done to it since 12K miles and there was no plug service in the list.

2014 has NGK dbl platinum plugs.Thats the reason for the 100,000 mile changes.No reason to use the older champs.

I have an 08 says every 30K or so--first ones replaced at 55k Best deal is get them off ebay way cheaper than anywhere else--stay with the factory Champions --the deal is if you don't change them often enough you can have trouble getting them out if you go way overboard--slather them up good with anti seize so in the future they come on out
I went about 50K on last set and gap had opened up--also helps you keep an eye on things inside Unlike other vehicles I can't say it felt one bit different and MPG is what it always is--

I'm lazy, my o7 has 150 on the factory plugs. I need to sway in a new set, then good for another 150.
