Yes... The light sensor is just an ON/OFF switch @ a certain oil pressure level like 10 Lbs. U need a new sending unit designed to work with the new guage provided is an electrical type, or one can plumb in a mechanical oil pressure guage. Just my $0.02...

you could run a "T" & keep the red light plus a mech gauge (your eyes ain't glued on the gauge all the time) & getting one that turns on at a higher PSI than OE is a good plan also). should be 1/8 NPT & common plumbing galvanized or black (slightly cheaper) hardware fittings will work or brass ones

The electrical sending unit needs to match the gauge to read accurately. The low oil pressure OEM sending unit for the dash warning light is not set up to be read by another pressure gauge, it is either on or off Mopar made two different sending units for thier cars, one for the light and another one for the OEM gauges that read preessure

I'd go with a mechanical after market gauge and get rid of the stock light. The mechanical gauge will use a line to the gauge to read the actual pressure. Just my
I have mechanical Aptitude. I can screw up anything.

an aftermarket on/off switch for an idiot light (rated higher) would work so the OE red light would come on earlier (good plan I think) & as said a gauge needs to be matched to its specific sender. for a mech gauge I would get a line setup with the least chance of leaking onto the carpet in the future (braided?)

And in the case of my 440 there were two tapped holes and I connected both sensors.
