Heading down to Florida for 2 weeks, Nov 8, Nov 22 or so. Where is a good place to stay while going to Orlando speed world? Don't want 5 star place, but don't want a dive. What else is there to do besides going to the races. I have seen a video of other things going on related to the races, what else is going on and where? Also going over to Tampa Bay area for the following week, any races close to that area?

Anybody have any suggestions on lodging? How far are the airport hotels from Orlando Speedworld? Where is the street show held?

Disney/International Dr are good choices if the family is with you, might even be better if they're not! The miles to the track aren't that bad since most of the trip will be on toll roads, 417, 528, 408. What ever you do, stay off I-4. My favorite way from south Orlando or Kissimmee to the track, head east on SR528, exit Dallas Bv, then north to SR520, then west to SR50 and the track.

Back in the day (late '1990's-early 2000's), that race was totally off the chain. The pits were packed with cars, from front to back. All the big names were there, Tony Christian, Mike Moran, Pat Musi, etc. Lots of big name guys from the west coast and even Europe made the annual trek to that race. It was a great show. By the late 2000's however, the car count dropped, A LOT. I'm guessing it was the recession that caused it. Since then, it has never been the same. I haven't been there to spectate in a few years, but I might go this time. Hopefully more race cars will show up. The Orlando area has tons of hotels. https://www.tripadvisor.com/HotelsNear-g34515-d7261363-Orlando_Speed_World-Orlando_Florida.html
