Just got our 70 Charger going this summer (after 25 years)
It's very quick feeling on the street (concrete).

The 275-60 BFGs were worthless last night at Thompson Drag Raceway!!

Would like a track-only tire to test and tune maybe a couple of times a year.

Here's our combo:
4000# '70 Charger 440 Torqueflite
Dynoed at 465HP @5800, 490Tq @4400. Will shift @5800 hope to trap @6200
Beefed up trans w/ rev VB, a neck-snapper on the street
1969 six barrel set-up that runs great except for the transition slot
problem which I haven't time to get into yet.
4:10 rear w/Suregrip
906 heads w/ larger valves, pocket ported and port matched
Raised deck pistons , .040 quench, 10.25 CR, no ping w/93
Old style .484 Racer Brown Hydraulic, (I know, I know) LOL
Std wheel wells and spring location w/ pinion snubber (I know, Iknow) LOL
1-7/8 Hooker Super Comps TTI full 3" exh.

So, radial or bias, width and compound that will work on a 15X7"??

Thanks, Joe

PS whoops, that's 5800 RPM

Couple of things, You can run a 10.50 on a 10 inch wheel (I did it without any type of wheel well modifications.) Also you may want to try shifting at 5500 to keep it in the max power range longer. Worked for me with the same set up.

For track only I'd run a radial pro. 3754X M/T radial

I dont know Thompson, if track prep tends to be suspect you might be better off with a bias ply.

Another PS to go along with the RPM correction, my street tires are radials so if possible, radials would be our choice.

ditch the snubber It was designed to go on Hemi Darts that were Hemi 4 speeds leaving at giant RPM--it just kept diff from getting a running start at the floor pan--it does not aid traction--when you get some SS springs and launch you will notice the body RISE thus negating any effect the snubber would have had

On the 7 inch wide wheels I would buy a set of bias ply 9x28,9x29 or the larger 9x30 inch slicks and run them at the track only twocents If you could find a pair of 9 or 10 inch wide wheels for those tires that will help a bunch on the traction also up

I ran 28x11.50 Quick time pro Hoosiers on 7" wheel. They worked great. The traditional bias ply wrinkle walls will give you a lot more traction than radials. The radials give you more ET if you can get them to hook.
