Was never a option. I'm sure it can be done but I think it would look kind of odd Why would it look odd? 2 of the best features combined...the 71 Charger needs all the help it can get in the looks dept IMHO

What was the logic in not offering this? From what I've "heard/was told" over the years when asking the 2 liter Coke bottle guys about this, the general response was a concern that the grille inserts would not fit properly within the elastromeric bumper because of the tighter clearances due to rubber thickness?...perhaps this is just BS? I don't know?..but sometimes there's no rhyme or reason why the factory had "rules" about certain options being offered/not offered or combined, I'm sure at some time back in the day, a dealer fitted B body rubber bumpers to a Charger because it couldn't be delivered/ordered that way for the customer

Well, I like the looks of the bumpers painted same color as the car for the 71-72 Chargers.I think with the thickness of the rubber coating it would be too tight of a fit... but I have never tried it. I painted a set of chrome bumpers for my wife's 72 Charger.
