Hi Everyone,
I have a recently restored '70 road runner w/ factory air.
The A/C works in all normal positions, but when I push MAX A/C, the blower shuts down.

I noticed however, that when I push the HEAT button, the A/C compressor comes on. I seem to have everything wired correctly(?).

Maybe a bad switch?

Any help would be greatly appreciated...
Thanks!

Could be, it's plastic that is basically glued together and it WILL fail eventually.

Hopefully it's available aftermarket, otherwise $$$$ .

running up my post count some more .

Do you have factory service manual ??? My 70 Sport Satellite is factory a/c and found the fsm, best source for trouble shooting. Perhaps you may have something wired incorrectly because in heat position, the a/c compressor should not be coming on. In def position it does, but not in heat. Also make sure the control is for 70 model year, the part number has been superseded several times over the year, and functionality changed . . . at least that is what I have found . . . good luck

Probably the wrong switch as they are not all the same. You most likely have the C body # 3502126 installed. Your application calls for # 3431020.

Thanks guys!
I do have the FSM, BUT perhaps not gone through it enough. I will definitely checkout the part number as well as verify that the compressor is on in defrost mode.
(We rarely use defrost as the a/c helps keep the windows clear....)

If you want to turn the compressor to turn on in the defrost position, then you need switch # 3895790, which is a later switch.

Standard Brands HS-101 about $50 at RockAuto.
