Just bought a new race car roller which is set up for a pg.This will be strictly a top bulb car ,super pro sst and maybe sg. Seems the Reid case is the easiest as far as fit. What company have you had good longevity and service. Will have a big block, no more then 600 hp.

Hughes is the big name company that's closest to you, aside from them the possibilities are endless; BTE, FTI, ATI, Transmission Specialties, A1.....

I believe BTE uses its own case design, most of them other brands use a Reid case.

All of them can build good stuff, and you'll probably find someone who has horror stories about each. I recommend picking up the phone, giving them a call and talking it through with them.

Depends on if the car is set up with an adapter plate to allow for use of a Chevy pattern case or do you need to use one of the aftermarket bellhousing type of units. I've used JW stuff in the past, but if I were starting from scratch, I would go with the ATI case and appropriate bellhousing. Get everything from one source to avoid fitment issues.

Chevy pattern case? Probably a Reid or if you are buying a complete trans, Hughes is close to you and they do a lot of pro tree stuff..

If the results don't match the theory, change the theory.

If You want personal Customer care go with Greg Harrison (Livermore, CA) or Steve Casner (Sheridan, CA) for building Your Powerglide. Both are great guys and well known long time racers and You won't be disappointed. With either one You will not have transmission issues after delivery. Are You going to use the Reid case with the BB Mopar bellhousing or JW Ultrabell? How about a rear midplate? Bellhousing, crankshaft adapter flange(?), convertor and finally starter will be the challenge, not the Powerglide for 600 hp. IM me if You want Greg's phone #.

I just went through this after I broke a stock case with a JW ultra bell.

I bought my Reid case through Summit racing after talking to the guys a Reid. Very happy with my decison. It was a bit more expensive than the ATI, but I think it may be a bit better quality. and I recieved it the next day after ordering. I surely didn't want anymore JW junk.

The Reid bell sockets onto the case and is held on with 8 bolts rather than the pump bolts. By doing that it makes it large enough to run the 168 tooth Chevy flexplate if you want too.
