Hey guys. Having an issue with the turn signals. When I move the lever to signal left or right the signal will come on and blink for three or four times. Then stop. It's been so long since I put the car back together I can't remember it there is a part that controls the signals like the flasher unit. The emergency flashers work fine. Any help?

Yes there is flasher just for the turn signals. Make sure you check all the bulbs. Also, all your grounds ! . . . if you had painted the car, then need to make sure you scrape through paint to good ground.

OK. So where is the flasher located? I just see the emergency flasher unit. Everything has worked fine for the past 10 years.

If I recall correctly, I think it is up under the dash on drivers side, might be clipped onto the lower part of metal dash panel, or the steering column support . . . according to wiring diagram from FSM, it is up against the drivers side of the ash tray . . .

Easiest way to find it is stick your head under the dash and turn the signals on. Listen for the click.

Mine would flash a couple of times then go really slow and then stop.
I went to napa and they had a "more modern" one there. Can't remember what the diff was but now it works perfect.
It did not have a bracket on it to screw it to the bottom of the dash like the original, so I left the original screwed to the dash and layed the new one next to it.

Old original ones were a bi-metalic type, similar to the voltage regulator for the instrument panel. New style are electronic ...ie.more modern

I did. It sounds like it's coming from directly in back of the gauge cluster.

I have the factory service manual. It says on left side of steering wheel.

Thanks for the help guys. I found it. It was the same as the emergency flasher. There was a mount on the underside of the lower dash. Swapped it out with the emergency flasher and it worked. Bought the heavy duty 536 for $4 at my local guys store. Works great. Done!
