A co-worker is in the market for wider rear wheels for his stock 67 Belvedere and was looking for 8" wheels with no offset, does that sound right to those of you that have used wider wheels on these cars? Thanks for any replies.

Most common with no relocation or inboard moving of the springs is an 8" rim with 4 1/2" backspace or a 7" rim with 3 3/4" backspace.

Thanks Mr5Speed, that's what I thought, but my experience is with 65 and 68 and later b-bodies, no 66 or 67, and I know they are tight in the rear wheel area.

I just received my new rear wheels for my 67 coronet. 8" with 5 1/4" backspace.. Centers the wheel very nicely.. Installing 245/60/15 tires on the rear also.. MIGHT be able to squeeze 255 on, but I do not want any tire clearance problems..

Not yet.. Torque thrust II with chrome centers.. Wanted the Chrome D's, but only came with a 3.75" backspace and no 8", only 8.5"

my friend just put some 8 inch torque thrusts on his 67 satellite-he runs 275/60/R15 on the rear-i believe they rub-sometimes only on one side--but i think if he would have had 1/4 inch more negative backspacing he would not have had any problems-he had the wheels custom made with the offset he wanted-i think he had 1/4 inch more positive offset than the 7 inch torque thrust wheel has-and if he had gone with the same positive offset as the 7 inch wheel-he would have had no problems with the 8 inch wheel-if you need more info i can get it daren

Put a big block 4 speed Scat Pack Dodge in your garage.

Here's pics of my 66 Coronet with 8" wheels and 5.5" backspace. I've not had any rubbing but it's pretty close. I believe the rear anti sway bar helps. The tires are 255/45/18"
