my 440 pulls the hardest from 3-4 grand.its in my 4x4.has b-body 1 3/4 headers, eddy 750, and a holley sd.i'd like to get it to pull harder from 2-3 grand.i have a 67 stock intake i could try.would a 2"ported carb spacer do anything with the sd.i'm in the process of fab. a set of long tube try-y headers.i got my ignition as fast as i safely can. looking for ideas that are on the cheep side. thanks

Hi Ken. Yes I'd try your stock intake & my(only) (cheep)idea would be to use a 4 hole carb spacer. Not cheep would be a smaller carb.

try the factory intake since you already have it.The SD is a great intake but if you want power from 2000-3000 a dual plane intake will work better.

Stock intake will be better where you want it.I would stay away from a carb spacer. The larger plenum will likely move the torque band up.If you have one of the flat low perf stock intakes I would look for a used performer or m1 dual plane.

I think the stock intake will do what you want. The holley SD is a good street/strip intake for a muscle car, not made for use in a truck.

another thing you could do is actually take the water pump and t-chain cover off, and get one of those kits with the offset bushings and advance the cam 2-4 degrees.
