Okay, here ya go, the dates and venues for this year's HOT ROD Drag Week, presented by Gear Vendors. Registration has not been set up yet but should be by the first of March or thereabouts, and host hotels won't be determined until Jenny can pre-run the route. Likewise, rules haven't been completely finalized but I don't expect they'll change at all from last year. So, without further ado, here's something for everyone to start planning for. Let the smack talk begin!

Sunday Sept. 13 Muncie Dragway, Albany, IN Test ‘n tune
Monday Sept. 14 Muncie Dragway, Albany, IN Day 1
Tuesday Sept. 15 US 131 Motorsports Park, Martin, MI Day 2
Wednesday, Sept. 16 Summit Motorsports Park, Norwalk, OH Day 3
Thursday Sept. 17 National Trail Raceway, Hebron, OH Day 4
Friday, Sept. 18 Muncie Dragway, Albany, IN Finals

I wish they would change the trailer rule. Would like to see how many would still make it without trailers.

IMO, the trailer makes it harder

If you're referring to the fact that the drive portion is harder on the car because it has to tow the trailer, I agree. I was more referring to the advantages those cars have at the track over those that don't tow a trailer.

Perhaps I should have phrased my comment differently. I would like to see if those cars that tow trailers can post the same average E.T.'s without the trailers as they do with them.

If they can post the same average E.T. with or without the trailer.... AND they can make the drive portion of the event easier without the trailer..... then why do they bother to tow a trailer at all?

Well, lets look at some of the cars. Ross Stomp drives the Corvette for Doc Fox. They tow a trailer that carries the wheelie bars, slicks and anything else. If you had a car like this, 65 Corvette roadster, where in the hell could you possibly carry anything. You can't even get a fuel jug in that car, much less a tool box or anything else. Sure, he could run ET streets and let the wheelie bars ride, but still, no room for anything else. The trailer does not bother me in the least, because it is hard on a car with a loose converter, to tow a trailer for 1,000 miles. Not to mention that Larson won overall and Eddie his class and neither towed a trailer.

If they allow them why not use them. To me if you
didnt use one your hurting yourself. With a trailer
I can put alot more junk in it than just the back seat

well, big power cars driving on slicks in the rain sure is scary. so, i look at the trailers as a safety feature like a roll cage, seat belts, etc

you would have to be sideways on the turnpike in chicago with tractor trailers looking in your side window to fully appreciate my point of view

and, to me, they were far more impressive for having done so IMHO.

I may have to take that Wednesday off of work. We normally race Wednesday nights at Norwalk, so I can make a full day of it!
