I have the vent in the top rear of the main case. At 1/2 quart low it still pushes enough fluid out to make a mess. I run a B&M deep cast pan, so there is plenty of fluid capacity. How much are you all running? Anyone running a catch can?

On all of my 727 with deep pans I make sure the fluid level is below the add mark cold and not above the add mark hot

I use to have the same issue, I ran the vent plastic overflow tank, took care of the problem that way, mine did it worse if I was using the transbrake. Didn't ever leak much, but always drips under the car until I did that.

Did u plug the govnor feed hole in the park gear? My 904 used to push about 2 shot glasses of oil in the catch can. Plugged the feed hole, now i only get a drop or two after a weekend of hammering.

I've seen people put the rear vent on the front side of the rear bulkhead (above the band/drum) that ends up making a mess. Putting it at the very rear of the case, drilled into the cavity under the rear support, I've never had one leak. Even putting it in the extension housing, it picks up oil slung from the output shaft. Not sure where your's is located.

Mine is located at about 11 o'clock on the main case one inch from the tailshaft housing. I will have to check on the guvnor feed hole. I did add a puke can of about 8 oz capacity with a 3/8 hose from the vent tube to the can, but there was still fluid dripping off the whole rear of the trans plus a couple of ounces in the puke can after seven passes. I clamped a screen to the end of the hose to try and separate out the oil, and will run less fluid, will try a quart low or so.

If you are an inch from the end of the case instead of right at the edge, you may be in main case area. I go so far as to put it top of the case to make certain it's out of oil laying in that area and have never had an issue with leaks. Just have to be careful it doesn't get broken off.

The vent may be closer than I mentioned. I will have to look and see.

We know that launch forces must send the fluid flying to the rear of the case on launch. I always thought that the deep pan was to keep the filter covered so the pump doesn't pull air. But if you think about it a second, low gear has little demand for pump volume, correct? Would that allow for any air drawn in to be cleared out? So the question becomes how deep of a pan is best, or minimum for faster cars, and how much can the level be lowered before trouble.
Cab, I see you run all your TFs 3/4 inch low roughly. Never any problem, I take it?

I always had problems with the puke. Pushes out 1-3 ounces after every run when i let go off the throttle. +9000rpm. I have vent relocated exactly like the picture. I just installed a metal can in the firewall where the hose is at the bottom. It pukes there and drains back automatically, no problem ever since.

No problems yet that I know of I use the Mopar stamped steel deep pan kits usually I have one older Pro Trans fully tricked out 727 SS/AH tranny Dave did years ago that has a B&M aluminum deep pan on it, it has a slosh baffle welded onto the back oil pan rail to help keep the oil from slosking back into the tail shaft housing

My buddy was moving the vent because it leaked most
of the time when it got hot... I gave him my 727 book
that shows that pick and I told him what to do... he
even put a hose on it running up to the firewall but
no bottle... so far he is fine... only did it hot

I don`t even know where my vent is but Pro-Trans went through mine years ago so they obviously have that figured out cos never a drop up front.........

When using a t-brake u have to plug the vent in the pump & move it to rear or the main case.
